Dall·E 2

I have spent way too much time on OpenAI’s Dall·E 2 but this was truly the origin story to my AI obsession.

While the art and design world was mourning their jobs of the future, I have come to realize that writing prompts was a muscle that could be developed. Writing prompts became an exercise akin to writing briefs for larger projects, as an Art Director. The prompt needed to be concise and obvious, while describing the subject, the story, the style, technique and colouring notes, all in one sentence.

It gave me homework: to revisit design styles and art movements I have skipped over at school, and to learn names, eras, and technical terms, all in an effort to hone and develop my own design language. If anything, I would say this was a very effective benefit of the tool.
